Last weekend was our anniversary. Since the 16th was a Friday and Brian has Fridays off I took a personal day off of work. We decided at the last minute where to go based on weather. We chose Wisconsin with the final destination to be Duluth.
We ended up riding to R hinelander for our first stop. Little did we know that it was the a fall ride in the town of T omahawk. There were hundreds of motorcycles on the road. It was nice when we stopped anywhere in the area we didn't stand out in our leathers. There is a friendly wave that bikers do. I happened to get a shot of it below. We take smaller country roads when we do these trips and I like to get shots of barns. And I didn't want to miss the large statues of odd things such as the large loon.

Overlooking Lake Superior.

This was in the lobby of the hotel we stayed in. There was a great view of Lake Superior that we were able to enjoy.

These were in Bayfield around the Lake from Ashland WI where we stayed for the evening.

Small town America.

Sadly we saw lots of towns with building like this, closed down and shuttered. I wondered just what it was like when these communities were thriving.

My photo editing program has some features that I am trying out. A line drawing below was done off of the one above.

We talked about how things have turned out for us after all these years. Little did we know when we started our marriage we'd find ourselves in the Midwest. I've been so thankful we did it's been a great place to have raised our girls. And we are finding so many neat places to explore as we are enjoying time together riding the roads.

As the good riding weather draws to a close we take our chances with what conditions we have. Dressing to stay warm is possible with lots of layers. The day we drove home was a day that conditions were not so good. It rained for almost all 6 hours of our ride. Needless to say we were cold and wet when we arrived home. Other than that we had a great time.
